Personally: Bucket List Recap

You may remember last year we challenged each other to complete one thing off our bucket lists, while it’s time to see how we did. A couple of our team members weren’t here last year to set a bucket list of items so we reached out to them to see what goals they completed this year. If you need a recap of our goals for the year click here.

Sometimes we make plans and hope to fulfill them, and other times we hope to accomplish something and don't quite make it. Well, unfortunately, I didn’t make this plan work as much as I would have liked. I did spend more time in Mexico this year, so I did learn a bit more Spanish, but not as much as I wanted to. I know I need to set aside a bit of time each week to learn more of the language, so I hope this coming year I can finally find the time to do just that. I think what I need is a margarita and some tacos to put me in the mood, so I guess I better get shopping!  🙂

Looking back at 2023, there was a lot that I had planned to achieve. The number one thing on my bucket list was getting myself a new vehicle (something I’ve been working towards for a few years now). Saving up to make such a big purchase has had its challenges, but I can proudly say I got my dream vehicle, a Jeep Wrangler Sahara. It is my baby; she's black, and her name is Pepper. I love driving; it makes me happy, and I can say I completed one goal from my bucket list.

Well... let’s just say life got quite busy this year, and we didn’t do much traveling at all. Instead, I decided to save up, hoping to go on a bigger trip next year. My new bucket list wish is to go to Europe (fingers crossed), since it’s been an all-time dream of mine. Although I didn’t complete my bucket list this year, I have a new goal for the coming year, and I’m so excited about what's in store for me. 😉

I tried my very best to cross this 30-year dream off my bucket list. We booked the tour, booked a cozy little cottage, and made the LONG trek to Tofino in mid April. Unfortunately, Mother Nature was not on our side. The tour company called us an hour before our scheduled time to leave and informed us that weather conditions would not permit us to go on our adventure (very sad face). So, it was a weekend of storm watching and puzzle making (good thing I picked up a great puzzle in Horseshoe Bay before we got on the ferry). I still want to cross this off my bucket list, but perhaps we plan it a little further into the summer months, and take a few more days off as it's a long trip. I did cross off another bucket list item this year. Salty’s Lobster Shack food truck is often in the Tri- Cities area, and I really wanted to try their lobster rolls. When I found out they were going to be in Pitt Meadows on New Years Eve, it was not hard to convince my boyfriend to check it out. It was delish… next time I see them around, I want to try the lobster grilled cheese, Yum!!!

A few months ago, I checked one item off my bucket list! I got to see a bunch of my favourite bands at a music festival, ones I’ve been a fan of for (MANY) years. Creating this core memory with my sister is a highlight of my year and something I am beyond thankful I got to experience.

My past year was probably my busiest yet, though looking back on what got done is a bit of a blur. That’s because I was on maternity leave with my third baby, the sweetest little boy, born in August 2022. He is the perfect addition to complete our family, with two big sisters who adore him as much as we do. We spent the year soaking up time together and watching our little ones grow. In September, my eldest started kindergarten, my middle started PreSchool, and I headed back to work part-time. I have to say, I love being back in the office, where I get to be creative and productive and have conversations with adults (without being interrupted).

When I think about the difference between now and when I originally wrote my bucket list blog, I don’t even recognize who that person is anymore! So young and hopeful haha ;) (kidding). While I did not technically achieve my goal of moving out on my own before I turn 25, my family and I will soon be moving out of our townhome of 19 wonderful years. The housing market in fact got worse since January 2023, and after a plethora of challenges throughout the year, this was the best course of action for us. Nevertheless, we are excited about where this is going to take us, and about the new adventures that await with it! 2024 will be the best year yet, I just know it.

We all had different goals and experiences last year and are so thankful we got to enjoy each other’s company while going through it all.

Can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store for us!
