A Valentine’s Season at Home: Introducing the No. 94 Candle Collection
Home is more than how a space looks. It is how it feels when you walk through the door. The quiet at the end of the day. The warmth of light in the evening. The sense of comfort that builds over time. At First Impression Designs, this belief guides everything we do. It is also what inspired the No. 94 Candle Collection.
Hand-poured in Vancouver using soy wax, No. 94 honours our heritage, established in 1994, and our approach to interiors that are layered, personal, and meant to be lived in. Each candle is designed like a finishing touch, subtle yet memorable, bringing warmth, texture, and atmosphere into the home.
Valentine’s season invites us to slow down and notice the spaces we share. It can be about romance, friendship, family, self-care, or simply creating comfort where it is needed. For some, it is joyful. For others, it is quieter and more reflective. Wherever you find yourself, a candle offers a simple way to bring intention into the everyday.
1. A Collection Inspired by Home
The most memorable homes are not built all at once. They evolve. They collect meaning through small details and thoughtful layers.
Scent is one of the most powerful of those layers. It has the ability to ground a space, soften it, and make it feel complete. The No. 94 Candle Collection was created with this in mind. These are fragrances that live comfortably in a home. They enhance rather than overwhelm. They linger gently, becoming part of the rhythm of daily life.
A candle can be a gesture of care. A way to say “I’m thinking of you.” A way to make an ordinary evening feel considered. A way to support the feeling of home, whether you are sharing it with others or enjoying it on your own.
2. Beacon Hill
Notes: Santal, Iris, Cardamom, Leather
Mood: Luxury, grounding, warmth
Beacon Hill feels intimate and enveloping. Black cardamom and soft iris open the scent, unfolding into palo santo and worn leather. As it settles, smoldering sandalwood and velvety musk remain, warm and quietly dramatic.
This candle was inspired by one of our own design projects, The Whitmore, a brownstone rooted in East Coast tradition and timeless character. Elements of the home shaped the fragrance, from the warmth of red brick fireplaces to the richness of layered textures and heritage details that feel storied rather than styled. The result is a scent that reflects spaces where depth matters, where materials carry history, and where warmth is felt the moment you step inside.
Beacon Hill is designed for evenings at home, slow conversations, and rooms that invite you to linger. It pairs effortlessly with darker woods, stone, and textured textiles, bringing a sense of quiet luxury and lived-in comfort to the space, much like the home that inspired it.
3. Amalfi
Notes: Mediterranean Citrus, Basil, Green Lilac, Ozone, Honey
Mood: Warmth, positivity, freshness
Amalfi is bright and layered. Sunlit Mediterranean citrus and soft basil open the scent, balanced by green lilac and fresh ozone. A gentle sweetness softens the composition, keeping it clean yet comforting.
This candle was inspired by our Euro Coastal project, a modern seaside home where coastal ease meets refined simplicity. Ocean blue hues, beach-worn woods, and textured creams informed the fragrance, along with natural linens, warm wicker, and plastered finishes that bring depth to the light-filled space. The scent reflects the feeling of fresh air drifting through open windows and slow mornings shaped by natural light.
Amalfi brings lightness and clarity into a home, making it ideal for entryways, kitchens, and morning rituals where freshness sets the tone for the day. It pairs beautifully with pale woods, woven textures, and soft neutral palettes, adding a sense of calm, openness, and effortless comfort.
4. Garden District
Notes: Bergamot, Citrus, Juniper, Pine Needles, Amber, Sandalwood
Mood: Welcoming, balanced, elegant
Garden District captures the feeling of golden hour through the trees. Crisp citrus and bergamot open the scent, followed by cool juniper and airy pine. As it settles, warm amber and smooth sandalwood create a soft, balanced finish that feels calm and enduring.
This candle was inspired by our Transitional Comfort project at Brookswood Estates, a home where casual ease meets thoughtful detail. Earthy textured neutrals, soft sage accents, and gentle florals informed the fragrance, echoing the way the home balances relaxed living with quiet refinement. The scent reflects spaces designed to feel welcoming and lived-in, where comfort is intentional and elegance feels effortless.
Garden District is made for shared spaces, living rooms, kitchens, and gathering areas where warmth and connection unfold naturally. It pairs beautifully with layered textiles, natural woods, and soft, muted palettes, bringing a sense of calm, grounded comfort to the home.
5. A Design Note
Candles feel most natural when they are styled as part of the home rather than treated as accessories. In the bedroom, a single candle on a bedside table, layered beside a softly glowing lamp, brings warmth and calm without interrupting the quiet of the space. It becomes part of the evening ritual, adding atmosphere in a way that feels effortless and lived-in.
The same approach works throughout the home. On a coffee table, a candle can anchor a vignette with books or ceramics, adding softness to shared living spaces. In the kitchen, it brings warmth to morning light or the end of a long day, tucked onto a counter or shelf where it feels both practical and inviting.
Keep the styling simple. Let the candle complement natural materials, layered textures, and gentle light. The goal is not to add more, but to create spaces that feel warm, intentional, and truly at home.
6. A Thoughtful Gesture for the Season
Valentine’s Day does not need to be grand to be meaningful. Often, the most lasting gestures are the ones that support everyday life. Shown together, the three scents of the No. 94 Candle Collection reflect the many ways we experience home. Each fragrance brings its own mood, yet together they create a sense of balance, warmth, and ease. Much like a well-designed space, they are meant to coexist, layer, and evolve throughout the day.
A candle can set the tone for a quiet dinner, bring warmth to a shared living space, or offer comfort at the end of a long day. It is a thoughtful gift for a partner, a friend, a family member, or someone navigating a more tender season. It is also a beautiful way to care for your own home. Pair it with a handwritten note, a favourite book, or a simple moment of pause. These are the details that turn an object into something personal.
The No. 94 Candle Collection was created to support the feeling of home, during Valentine’s season and long after it has passed.
